Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF/FGF7) binds to FGFR2b and activates intracellular signaling. It is essential for the differentiation and proliferation of epidermal cells and endoderm-derived cells, such as alveolar epithelial cells, islet cells, and hepatocytes, from pluripotent stem cells.
PG-012 is an alternative to KGF that binds FGFR2b and exhibits agonist activity toward FGFR2b, demonstrating equivalent efficacy to recombinant KGF. It exhibits equivalent ERK phosphorylation and proliferation activity to recombinant KGF at 1/3 of the concentration.

The ERK phosphorylation and proliferation assay using FGFR2b-overexpressing BaF3 cells (pro-B cell line) demonstrated that the PG-012 exhibits equivalent ERK phosphorylation and proliferation activity to recombinant KGF at lower concentrations.
