CiMS™ and CiMS™-U
Animal-free culture medium for human MSC. The formulation of CiMS™-U is optimized for hMSC derived from umbilical cord tissue.
Product Basics
CiMS™ is a serum-free cell culture medium for human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSC). The CiMS™-BM (base medium) is optimized for multiple passage expansions of various undifferentiated hMSCs. Pre-coating of culture vessels with an attachment matrix is not required, thereby improving efficiency. With the animal-free supplement (CiMS™-sAF), which is optimized for CiMS™-BM, long-term serum-free culture with high proliferation can be achieved.
CiMS™-U is a sister version of CiMS™, specially formulated for optimum culture of umbilical cord tissue derived hMSC (UC-hMSC). CiMS™-U can be used for hMSCs from other tissues, such as adipose and bone-marrow.
Key Features
- Animal-free culture medium designed for hMSC
- Facilitates the expansion of various hMSCs in an undifferentiated state
- Eliminates the need for pre-coating culture vessels, thereby improving efficiency
- CiMS™-U offers optimized growth of umbilical tissue derived hMSC
- Enables long-term culture with high proliferation of various hMSCs
- Allows differentiation into several desired lineages
- Manufactured in compliance with Japanese GMP guidelines (CiMS™)
Technical Information
Fig. 2
Proliferation activity of AT-MSCs was evaluated by population doubling level (PDL). Cells cultured in CiMS™-BM supplemented with CiMS™-sAF without matrices have shown high proliferation through passages. Results are similar to cells cultured in MSC-T4 medium with fibronectin coated plates. UC-MSCs cultured in CiMS™- U proliferated faster than in MEMα medium supplemented with 10% FBS.
Fig. 3
Osteogenic, adipogenic and chondrogenic differentiation capability of AT-MSCs cultured in CiMS™-BM with CiMS™-sAF supplement were confirmed by Alizarin Red S staining, Oil Red S staining, and toluidine blue staining, respectively. UC-MSCs cultured with CiMS™- U showed the same multiple lineage capability.
Fig. 4
The MSC marker profile was maintained in UC-MSCs after 12 days of culture in CiMS™-U.
